Rebekka Hochreiter ist bildende Künstlerin, Kuratorin und seit 2020 stellvertretende Geschäftsführung von FIFTITU%, einer Vernetzungs- und Beratungsstelle für FLINTA Personen in Kunst und Kultur.
Hochreiter beschäftigt sich mit der Politik von Körpern, von Orten und von Sprache, besonders der des Materials: Was schränkt ein?
Welche Normen gelten – und für wen?
Sie arbeitet mit Performance, Fotografie, Film und mit Objekten – die Herangehensweise richtet sich nach der jeweiligen Fragestellung, transzendiert technische Kategorien. Am Anfang stehen Konzept, Thema, das Experiment, bis sich das beste Medium findet: Bei Hochreiter ist alles Galerie, nicht nur die Galerie selbst – sie bespielt den öffentlichen Raum offline wie online.
Hochreiter verfügt über ein abgeschlossenes Studium der Bildenden Kunst an der Kunstuniversität Linz, sie ist auch gelernte Goldschmiedin (Fachschule für Metalldesign in Steyr), verschweigt gern ihr Diplom als Fitnesstrainerin, viel mehr beeinflusst haben ihre Arbeit allerdings ihre Berufserfahrungen im Film- und Theaterbereich, womöglich auch ihre nicht enden wollende Liebe zum Trashfilm („Bad Taste“, 1987). Sie ist auch ABJEKT Schmuckdesignerin und Kuratorin der Kunsthalle Linz.

Rebekka Hochreiter is a visual artist, curator and, since 2020, the deputy Director of FIFTITU%, a networking and advisory centre for FLINTA people in art and culture.
She is concerned with the politics of bodies, of places and of language, especially that of material: What constrains? What norms apply - and to whom?
Hochreiter works with performance, photography, film and objects - the approach depends on the respective question, transcending technical categories. In the beginning there is a concept, a theme, the experiment, until the best medium is found: For Hochreiter, everything is a gallery, not just the gallery itself - she plays in the public space both offline and online. Hochreiter has a degree in fine arts from the Linz Art University, she is also a trained goldsmith (Fachschule für Metalldesign in Steyr), likes to conceal her diploma as a fitness trainer, but her work has been much more influenced by her professional experiences in film and theatre, possibly also by her never-ending love of trash films ("Bad Taste", 1987). She is also ABJEKT jewellery designer and curator of the Kunsthalle Linz.
