Waiting for Banksy is a project by Rebekka Hochreiter and Larissa Meyer. They invited the famous street artist Banksy to realize an exhibition at Kunsthalle Linz.
For this purpose Kunsthalle Linz traveled to Bristol and London to wait for Banksy. It was in the right place at the right time. Banksy never came, but Kunsthalle Linz realized 11 exhibitionsin the cities of Bristol, London, Cologne, under the sea and Vienna. On display were works by
artists from Linz and local artists. Some works by artists from Bristol and London became the property of Kunsthalle Linz. The action explored art accessibility, visibility and the dialogue between institutionalized art production and street art. It addresses waiting as an artistic practice.

Waiting for Banksy ist ein Projekt von Rebekka Hochreiter und Larissa Meyer. Sie luden den berühmten Street-Art Künstler Banksy ein, eine Ausstellung in der Kunsthalle Linz zu realisieren. Dazu reiste die Kunsthalle Linz nach Bristol und London um dort auf Banksy zu Warten. Sie war zur
richtigen Zeit am richtigen Ort. Banksy kam nie, dafür realisierte die Kunsthalle Linz 11 Ausstellungen in den Städten Bristol, London, Köln, unter dem Meer und Wien. Gezeigt wurden Werke von Künstler*innen aus Linz und von Künstler*innen vor Ort. Einige Arbeiten von Künstler*innen aus
Bristol und London gingen in den Besitz der Kunsthalle Linz über. Die Aktion erforschte Kunstzugänglichkeit, Sichtbarkeit und den Dialog zwischen institutionalisierter Kunstproduktion und Street Art. Sie thematisiert das Warten als künstlerische Praxis.
